Smart Grid:

Customer understanding and acceptance are key to successful smart grid initiaves.  In the Boston area, Eversource customers participated in a recent "opt-in" pilot program that tested rate designs and customer responses under a variety of conditions.  One view of the results are reported in this paper: Smart Homes and Smarter Consumers: How the Internet and Home Area Networks Can Enable Energy Efficient Behavior
